With the annual Ghostbusters Day celebration set for next weekend, Ghost Corps and the official Ghostbusters social media channels have confirmed that filmmakers Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan will be in attendance outside New York City’s iconic Hook & Ladder 8 on June 6th, writes our friend Jason from Ghostbusters News.
The announcement arrived via social media earlier today, below, also promoting live music, an Ecto-1 appearance, special guests, and “a few surprises” as fans from around the world prepare to gather at the famed firehouse located at 14 North Moore Street in Manhattan.
Reitman and Kenan have also been confirmed to participate in a Ghostbusters Give Back check presentation, recognizing Ghostbusters fan groups and community members who dedicate their time and efforts to charitable causes. Since launching last year, Ghostbusters Give Back has helped raise just shy of $500,000 for the Starlight Children’s Foundation, supporting the organization’s mission of delivering happiness to seriously ill children and their families through programs, services, and experiences.

Their participation also comes as Ghostbusters Day in New York City, organized by the Buffalo Ghostbusters, continues to evolve into the franchise’s largest annual fan celebration, with this year’s event supporting the FDNY Foundation.
Over the past several weeks, organizers have announced a wide variety of activities and collectibles tied to the event, including anniversary-themed Mystery Medallions celebrating 40 years of The Real Ghostbusters, exclusive fundraiser merchandise, charity auctions featuring Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire set pieces, and raffles offering everything from Hasbro’s Plasma Series Proton Pack (1984) to the complete Kenner Classics Ecto-Glow Capsule Collection.

Entertainment will also play a major role throughout the day, with returning performances from The Alessi Brothers, known to Ghostbusters fans for the anthem “Saving the Day,” alongside Philadelphia punk-rock band The Mad Splatter and DJ STEVE-O.
Of course, for many fans, the confirmation of Reitman and Kenan’s attendance is likely to fuel speculation about potential announcements. In recent years, Ghostbusters Day has evolved beyond a fan gathering, regularly serving as a platform for reveals, updates, and surprise appearances tied to the franchise’s future.
With the upcoming Netflix animated series, the launch of ECTOber, and The Real Ghostbusters approaching its 40th anniversary, Ghostbusters Day 2026 arrives at a particularly exciting time for the franchise. Whether any new announcements materialize or not, this year’s event is already shaping up to be one of the biggest celebrations in Ghostbusters history.
