Many fans of the X-Men films had assumed that X-Men Apocalypse would be the last time that we would see Jennifer Lawrence don the blue makeup and play Mystique.
This seemed to be confirmed by an interview she gave to EW in May. In it, Lawrence stated: “I love working with Bryan, and I love these movies… It’s just the paint… Now I’m almost 25 and I’m like, ‘I can’t even pronounce this and that’s going in my nose? I’m breathing that?”
However, based on recent comments from Lawrence, this may not be the case. In a recent interview, Lawrence stated, “There is hope… I don’t want to not be asked”.
Alongside this, producer Simon Kinberg said: “I just wanna finish this movie and then figure out the next one… But I do think about the next chapters of these stories. My hope is we can bring these guys back. And if we didn’t then I would adjust”.
While this is far from confirming her return, it is good to hear that there are further plans for the X-Men franchise, and it will not stop after Apocalypse.
