Jesus Christ! Mel Gibson and Jim Caviezel are making a sequel to The Passion of the Christ

February 1st, 2018 by Marc Comments

Well, Family Guy may have had a chuckle at the idea (below), but there is a sequel in the works to The Passion Of The Christ.

This is not a drill. Or a wind-up.

Star of the first movie, Jim Caviezel has been chatting about returning as Jesus Christ under the direction, once again of Mel Gibson: “There are things that I cannot say that will shock the audience. It’s great. Stay tuned.”

Caviezel and Gibson are already working on the sequel and, according to Gibson, talking about his idea for a sequel in 2016, the movie could pick up on another big part of The Bible: “The Resurrection. Big subject. Oh, my God,” Gibson said.

“We’re trying to craft this in a way that’s cinematically compelling and enlightening so that it shines new light, if possible, without creating some weird thing.”

The Passion was a massive movie on its release and is still talked about today for its graphic portrayal of how Jesus was tortured and then crucified… it should be interesting to see how actor and director would team up to chronicle this part of the story.

We’ll keep you posted as and well details of the sequel arise…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
