John Carpenter talks bringing back Kurt Russell as Snake Plissken

July 25th, 2021 by Marc Comments

If there’s one actor that specialises in iconic characters, it’s Kurt Russell – Jack Burton, McReady… Santa – and now his muse, John Carpenter is talking about the possibility of bringing back… Snake Plissken.

With Plissken’s first appearance in Escape from New York turning 40 this year, writer/director Carpenter has been discussing the return of the iconic badass. But it’s not all good news, sadly.

“He’s a character that Kurt is passionately fond of,” says Carpenter.

“He convinced me to do the sequel [Escape from L.A]. There’s probably a third or maybe even fourth story about Snake. I don’t know if we’ll ever make it, but I think that he deserves it.”

However, Carpenter does say he’s “open to” directing a third movie, should a decent script come along despite not having directed in over a decade and now being 70.

For the record, I’d take Kurt Russell and John Carpenter reuniting on ANYTHING but having Snake return in the world we live in now? That would be bliss.

We know there was chatter of an Escape from New York reboot (here) a while ago but we recond that’s dead in the water.

Thoughts?
