So we know that the John Wick franchise is far from over, with the spin-off, Ballerina, in post-production (here), The Continental TV series going ahead (here), the first video game in the franchise recently hitting (here) and the fourth movie in the main franchise on the way in 2021 (here), but that’s not it all.
It’s just been revealed that John Wick 4 and 5 will film back-to-back with Lionsgate CEO John Feltheimer saying: “We’re also busy preparing scripts for the next two instalments of our John Wick action franchise, with John Wick 4 slated to hit theatres Memorial Day weekend 2022. We hope to shoot both John Wick 4 and 5 back to back when Keanu becomes available early next year.”
Which makes sense since creator/screenwriter Derek Kolstad recently (here) said he believed star Keanu Reeves would likely not go further than a fifth movie.
Personally, as much as I love John Wick, I do feel the franchise, while a lot of fun, is showing signs of staleness, so I hope the series will be smart enough to end Wick’s story in a high… and a fifth movie sounds like it’s already stretching the boundaries of the story.
But look, I’ll be there for Ballerina, John Wick 4 and 5 and The Continental series, I just hope that, to quote Blade Runner, the series burns out rather than fades away.
What say you all? Are you still excited for more John Wick goodness? Let me know what you all think, gang.
