No-one is ever really dead in comic book movies, we know, but ti seems that the biggest – and still the best – threat the MCU has ever faced may be coming back.
Thanos, played by Dune star Josh Brolin, almost ended the Avengers in the MCU to the point that he needed two movies to finally be defeated and even at the, thanks to the What If…? show and the multiverse storyline in the movies, we know that he’s still out there waiting to be defeated again. He’s died twice in the Marvel main movies (time travel, baby!), has died several times in What If…? and it was even mentioned in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness that Earth-838’s heroes, the Illuminatti, defeated him too but it seems that reports of his death my have been greatly exaggerated.

Doing the Dune Part 2 press circuit, Brolin was asked about returning to the Marvel movies to give the Avengers more trouble, to which he replied: “You know, I hear kind of like through the grapevine, that they’re gonna bring him back.”
He then goes on: “And there’s the What If…? series and that’s a different kind of Thanos and all that. But I don’t know in the Marvel world whether they’re going to bring him back.”
There have been rumours ever since he was snapped out of existence by Tony Stark in Avengers: Endgame that we haven’t seen the end of Thanos and in a universe – as we’ve seen already – full of alternate realities, time travel, multiverses and more, Thanos’ return isn’t just a possibility, it’s pretty likely.
Personally, I would like to see, if Thanos returned, Robert Downey Jnr’s Tony Stark/Iron Man going up against him but, alas, if Marvel boss Kevin Feige is to be believed, that’s not going to happen: “Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man Will Not Return, Says Kevin Feige: We Would Never ‘Magically Undo’ His Death.”
Interesting that Feige uses the word ‘magically’, no? Anyway…
