Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss talk The Matrix 4

June 8th, 2020 by Marc Comments

We all know that we’re in the run-up to a fourth Matrix movie and now two of the stars have talked about what drew them to the movie.

We’re 17 years out from the third movie in the original trilogy and just as we had started to believe we’d never see the return of Neo, Trinity and Morpheus, we got the news that, yes, a fourth Matrix movie is coming (here).

Co-writer and co-director of the original trilogy, Lana Wachowski, is back behind the camera and she has Keanu Reeves (Neo) and Carrie-Anne Moss (Trinity) back on board and the actors have been talking about why the wanted to come back to the world of the unreal.

“Lana Wachowski wrote a beautiful script and a wonderful story that resonated with me,” Reeves tells Empire.

“That’s the only reason to do it. To work with her again is just amazing. It’s been really special, and the story has, I think, some meaningful things to say, and that we can take some nourishment from.”

Moss adds: “I never thought that it would happen. It was never on my radar at all.

“When it was brought to me in the way that it was brought to me, with incredible depth and all of the integrity and artistry that you could imagine, I was like, ‘This is a gift.’ It was just very exciting.”

Of course, we have to remember that Neo and Trinity both died at the end of the original trilogy, so there’s a lot of explaining to be done as to why they are back in the picture… but then, anything can happen in the Matrix.

Are you excited for the fourth Matrix movie? Let me know your thoughts, gang.

The Matrix 4 also stars Jada Pinkett Smith, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Neil Patrick Harris, Jessica Henwick and Jonathan Groff and is set to hit cinemas on May 21st, 2021.
