So one of my favourite MCU bad guys was Ben Kinglsey’s Trevor slattery or, as the world knew him briefly, The Mandarin.
And while his character has arguably the best twist in the MCU thus far, his fate saw him wind up in prison as a celebrity.
But while he was an actor, his alter-ego, The Mandarin, was established as existing in the MCU unseen and while his final appearance in the MCU One-shot All Hail The King and it seemed that he was found and abducted by The Mandarin and was being taken to face his fate.
And it seemed like maybe this was just a thread that the MCU was going to leave hanging.
But, it seems not.
In a Reddit AMA Marvel boss Kevin Feige was asked if the story would ever be continued, to which he replied ‘yes’.
So, the events of Avengers: Endgame may have made things a little tricky as The Mandarin is an Iron Man villain, that said, he could still just become a threat to any of the Avengers along with his terrorist organisation The Ten Rings, which were also established in Iron Man 2 and, in the comics, tend to try to overthrown world governments.
What this means for the character in the future is anyone’s guess… could we see Ben Kingsley back in the role of Trevor? Was he actually modelled on the real Mandarin and, if so, does that mean he looks like Slattery?
So many questions, but this is MCU news to truly be excited for. Hopefully.
