Fantastic Four writer Simon Kinberg has said that Doom, played by  Tobey Kebbell, will be at the centre of the reboot…

He also said that there’ll be more to Doom than the average comic book villain; speaking to EW, he said: “He has aspirations and struggles that are a little bit more classically tragic than the other characters. As much as it’s an origin story of our heroes, it also tracks how someone can become a villain.”

And what about the X-Men universe, which Kinberg wrote the script for Days of Future Past, also at Fox? Will there be a crossover potential?: “The reboot of FanFour really needed to work in and of itself.

“We were doing something pretty radical with the tone of the movie. If we wanted to find a way to connect them to the X-Men, we could. There’s a lot of precedent from the comics.”

Many people feel that the trailer was too dark, too serious. Many have said it looks good but it’s too bleak for Fantastic Four; Kinberg defends the tone: “Part of what’s cool about the Fantastic Four comics is that there’s an emphasis on the science of science fiction.

“And we treat what would normally be considered a superpower as a trauma. They don’t just go up a roof, jump off, and start swinging through the city. It’s the opposite. What would happen if your body transformed, and you didn’t have control over it?”

Ok, but we kinda want them to just jump off a roof and swing through the city… don’t we?
