No-one can argue that The LEGO Movie was a massive success this year and the announcement of a sequel wasn’t really a shock, however, this is… interesting news.
It seems that, while The LEGO Movie 2 is still waiting for a release date to be penned in, Warners and LEGO are keen to create a LEGO movie universe – sort of like what Disney are doing with Marvel. only squarer.
The next movie to be released under the LEGO banner will be Ninjago on September 23rd, 2016.
According to Darkhorizons, “Charlie Bean (“Tron: Uprising”) will make his feature directorial debut on the film which “The LEGO Movie” writer-directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will produce alongside Dan Lin and Roy Lee.2
