A new report is suggesting that, despite it seeming unlikely earlier, Jared Leto will be back as Joker in the Suicide Squad sequel.
Now, before you all say ‘oh, it’s not a sequel, it’s a reboot!’, the movie from James Gunn will have several cast member returning including Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney and Viola Davis, so it’s a follow-up to David Ayer’s movie.
So, anyway, Leto has previously said he’d be up for returning as Joker (here) and a while back a Joker was spotted on the Birds of Prey set but it was thought not played by Leto (here) – although the role was likely just a brief appearance in a flashback scene.
But now it seems that the actor will be back in the role according to a new report.
“[We] managed to get our hands on an official production document from The Suicide Squad that lists the actor among the cast list. Our sources haven’t yet been able to confirm or deny whether or not Leto is definitely onboard for the sequel though, and Warner Bros. wouldn’t comment on the document when we reached out to them, either. For all we know, whoever put this document together could’ve made a mistake, but given that it comes directly from the production team, that seems unlikely.”
Personally, I really liked his take on the Clown King of Crime and would love to see more, so hopefully this will happen.
In a related note, you may recall that in Ayer’s Suicide Squad Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn briefly wore the traditional jester suit from Batman: The Animated Series.
Well, as brief as it was, this was a big thing for the fandom and, while the suit did look a bit silly, we all wished we’d have seen more of it.
And now we might just.
A new report says that in Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) Harley will once again wear several costumes including the black and red suit.
Now, this report apparently comes from the same source who first reported Wonder Woman wold wear the gold armour in wonder Woman 84. So there’s likely some truth to it.
If this all comes out true, then the DCEU once more proves it is alive and well and still loves the first lord and lady of crime in Gotham.
Huzzah!
