We have a load of leaked images from The Suicide Squad, James Gunn’s sequel to Suicide Squad.
The images feature many of the core cast – new and retuning – and shouldn’t be taken as being representative of the final thing.
The first batch of images feature Jai Courtney, back as Captain Boomerang, along with new members Nathan Fillion as Arm-Fall-Off-Boy, Pete Davidson as Blackguard, Michael Rooker – rumoured to be King Shark – , Flula Borg as Javelin, Sean Gunn as Weasel, and Mayling Ng as Superman big bad Mongul – all these castings are rumoured so far.
These images have been getting a lot of abuse online for the apparent ‘cheap’ look of them – but a couple of things are worth noting. Firstly, set images rarely match the final thing seen on screen and secondly, I have a feeling these suits may be looking a rough as this for a reason as I’m betting these characters – or most of them – may be the first Suicide Squad in the movie and may come to a quick end before the other, main, team are brought in.
That said, I do love that they are dipping into some of the craziest corners of the DC Universe… Arm-Fall-Off-Boy?! Really?

The next batch feature Idris Elba, John Cena, and Daniela Melchior as, again rumoured, Vigilante, Peace Maker and – this is confirmed – Rat-Catcher.
Also featured is returning Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, the person responsible for putting together Task Force X AKA Suicide Squad.
It’s worth noting that the others are obviously in their prison gear, so likely before they are all assembled for whatever mission they are sent on this time.

The final image has Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi with Mayling Ng. While we know nothing of the part Capaldi is playing, we can see he has the new shaved head look and my speculation is that he could be either Victor Fries AKA Mr Freeze or Hugo Strange… but this is, of course, just a guess.

The Suicide Squad is due in cinemas in August 2021
