Though there is a definite slate of DC Comics film coming starting next year, there had been films in the works for quite a while. One of which featured the Main Man Lobo. In fact, it had a screenplay, director, and possible star in Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who is now slated to be Black Adam in the SHAZAM! film. So…what happened?

“I think what’s happening with DC is that they have prioritized what they need to make first in order to kind of lay the foundations for the DC Universe,” Brad Peyton told ComingSoon.net this weekend at the San Andreas junket. “This is what I believe is happening just from what they’ve been taking about. They’re talking about ‘Justice League,’ ‘Batman v Superman,’ and going into ‘Flash,’ ‘Wonder Woman,’ and ‘Aquaman’. Those are kind of the pillars of that universe.”

In a way this makes sense. In fact, the only movie many didn’t expect from the released slate was Suicide Squad, because that was very much a niche property, not unlike Guardians of the Galaxy. So maybe they’re planning to see how well that does, then bust out films like Lobo. We’ll see.
