So, a leaked script for the upcoming Morbius movie has reportedly leaked on Reddit and, while, usually this means very little, if anything at all, it seems that this one may indeed be the real deal.
So, on that, I will say that this must be taken with a pinch of salt and, just in case, SPOILERS.
So, while in the trailer for Morbius we did indeed see Spider-man hinted at in a poster on a wall, it was the Sony videogame version of the character and some fans speculated this meant it was not directly related to the MCU… although Micheal Keaton’s Vulture popping up in the trailer seemed to hint otherwise:
According to the new leak, however, the image of Spider-man seen in the movie is merely a placeholder and it will be Tom Holland’s Spider-man seen in the actual movie. We will also see a ‘Wanted’ poster for Holland’s Peter Parker in the movie, clearly tying into the events of Spider-man: Far From Home.
The leak also claims the movie will see cameos from MCU villains Michael Keaton’s Adrian Toomes (Vulture), Michael Mando’s Mac Gargan (Scorpion), and Sony’s Woody Harrelson’s Cletus Kasady (Carnage from Venom and Venom 2).
Speaking of Kasady, Venom star Tom Hardy shared a new image of Woody Harrelson in the role from Venom 2:
It seems that all three villains, and Morbius, will appear together in prison – guess Morbius gets jailed at some point – and Toomes is trying to put together a team of super villains. I’m prepared to bet there’ll be six bad guys and they’ll be a sinister team.
It’s interesting because fans believe Morbius was actually in Spider-man: Homecoming in the scene were Toomes and Gargan meet in prison:
Now, it was almost certainly a coincidence, but it’s a nice little one. And no doubt at some stage in the future, this will be retconned to be canon.
Anyway…
Also returning – yay! – is JK Simmons’ as J Jonah Jameson who will be reporting on Morbius’ villainous deeds throughout the movie. Also, it seems Oscorp will be in the movie and The Blip will be mentioned, meaning Thanos’ evil deeds did indeed have an impact here too.
Honestly, I think this is all very exciting news and I really hope it plays out. But whatever happens, there’s no real doubt that the MCU and Sony movies are indeed one world. Now, how do we get the X-Men in?
Meanwhile, Leto has confirmed he’s back on set for reshoots before the movie wraps, with rumour being he’s filming scenes that connect it more decisively to the MCU.
