MASSIVE SPOILERS: New toy image from Ghostbusters: Afterlife reveals new team

November 24th, 2020 by Marc Comments

So, had the world not slipped into the seventh level of hell this year, we would already have watched it and would most likely be looking forward to the home release around now.

However, into hell we slipped and, as such, we will not be seeing Jason Reitman’s highly anticipated third Ghostbusters movie until (hopefully) next June.

And, as such, we’ve not had much to go on or speculate upon beyond the mini Ghostbusters trap that is on wheels and comes with the LEGO Ecto-1 and the image that reportedly leaked this week of Bill Murray suited in the movie – I’m assured it exists but try as I might, I cannot find it.

However, now we have something very juicy and very cool to speculate on.

An image from a toy set (not sure which one as there’s not much info to be found online) from the movie has revealed the full line-up of what can only be called the new Ghostbusters team. While I don’t know what toy the image is from, the figures are clearly part of the Fright-Features line from the new movie which are in scale with the original Real Ghostbusters toys from the 80s:

Now, we’re warning you, this is a big spoiler.

Like REALLY big.

Massive actually.

You still here?

Ok…

Last warning…

Here you go:

So, in the image we have top left and clockwise around: Finn Wolfhart (Trevor) Celeste O’Connor (Name unknown), Logan Kim (Name unknown) and McKenna Grace (Pheobe).

So, a few things.

Grace’s figure seems to have a name badge while the others don’t – this is likely because we believe in the movie she is Egon’s granddaughter and wears his suit… therefore the name badge likely says Spengler.

Secondly, yes, these are all kids – although Wolfhart and O’Connor are older teens – and we know this is not to the liking of many fans but I’ll be very surprised in Paul Rudd’s Mr Grooberson and Carrie Coon’s Carrie don’t suit up with the kids lending a hand along the way (Coon pretty much says as much here).

Also, this shouldn’t be a surprise as we have seen Kim and Grace with the original and new equipment in the movie’s international trailer (here):

So, what do you think? Are you more excited? Less? Let me hear those thoughts, gang…

From director Jason Reitman and producer Ivan Reitman, comes the next chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe. In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, when a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind.

The film is written by Jason Reitman & Gil Kenan.

The movie will be released on March 5th, 2021.
