Milly Alcock’s Supergirl will appear in James Gunn’s Superman this summer

It looks like Milly Alcock’s Kara Zor-EL – Supergirl –  will be appearing on the big screen sooner than previously expected.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which started filming in the UK three days ago, stars House of the Dragon’s Alcock, left, as Superman’s cousin who will also be a big name in James Gunn’s DCU and while the movie is due for release in June 2026, THR has confirmed that we will meet Supergirl this July in Gunn’s Superman movie.

The trade writes: The [Supergirl] project was one of the first features developed by DC Studios, headed by James Gunn and Peter Safran. The duo unveiled as part of the initial slate. Alcock was picked as Supergirl almost a year ago and will first appear in Gunn’s Superman movie.

Andy Muschietti says Robert Pattinson is definitely not the DCU Batman

Along with the likes of Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl, Mr Fantastic and many others, Superman is going to go a long way to making the DC universe a fully-realised and lived in world from the get-go.

THR also revealed that The Santa Clause and Oppenheimer star David Krumholtz and Cruella and 1899 star Emily Beecham will play Supergirl’s parents in Craig Gillespie’s Supergirl movie when it arrives next summer.

It will be pretty cool seeing Superman, played by David Corenswet, along with Supergirl and Krypto in Superman this summer, although I get the feeling that Alcock will be a cameo or post-credit scene to set up her own movie.

Thoughts on this news? I want to hear them…

James Gunn takes on the original superhero in the newly imagined DC universe with a singular blend of epic action, humor and heart, delivering a Superman who’s driven by compassion and an inherent belief in the goodness of humankind.

Superman arrived in cinemas on July 11th.

Aquaman no more: Jason Momoa officially joins James Gunn’s DCU as Lobo
