Good news for fans of Mad Max: Fury Road… more movies are likely coming,
Writer/director George Miller has been with the franchise since the beginning and is looking to continue the story.
“The toughest film I ever made was the first Mad Max. I didn’t know much about filmmaking, and it was rather bewildering. I was aware of the process. It took me a good 10 years before I could watch that first movie again, because all I would see were the mistakes — the things I felt were left to do creatively. The same thing also happened to me with Fury Road,” Miller says
But a tough job never put Miller off: “There are two stories [sequels], both involving Mad Max, and also a Furiosa story. We’re still solving, we’ve got to play out the Warners thing, it seems to be pretty clear that it’s going to happen.”
In Fury Road, of course, Tom Hardy played Max while Charlize Theron made waves as the stoic and tough as hell Furiosa… so much so that fans have been crying out for more.
It seems that the AT&T merger at Warners caused a bit of chaos (‘everybody was running around fearful, it seems, through three regimes’) but Miller adds that it’s “become extremely positive as the dust seems to have settled after [the AT&T merger]”.
Hopefully that positivity will lead to more Max and more Furiosa… I know I’d pay for my tickets right here and now.
