Well it looks like we pretty much know for sure, after all the rumours, who will be the new Guardians of the Galaxy team when the sequel hits next May…
New concept art from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 features familiar faces Drax, Groot, Star-Lord, Rocket and Nebula as well as villains (sort of) Yondu and Gamora.
However, there’s new new face int here… Mantis, played by Pom Klementieff.
In the movie Mantis will join the team but seemingly reluctantly: “She has never really experienced social interaction,” says executive producer Jonathan Schwartz.
“Everything she learns about dealing with people, she learns from the Guardians of the Galaxy, which is a very weird group to learn your social intricacies from.”
As well as Mantis being something new, it seems that there’s a big possibility that Groot may be changed too.
Schwartz says of everyone’s favourite tree: “He doesn’t have the wisdom and experience of that Groot.
“He’s a younger Groot and a more rambunctious Groot. The question is, is he the same Groot, just smaller? Or is he a different Groot that’s sprung up from the seed of the first Groot?”
It looks like the second movie may have a lot of new stuff to offer… and that’s just fine with us.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 saves us all on May 5th, 2017.
