One of the memorable parts of The Dark Knight Trilogy was the evolution of the Batsuit. Mainly in that they mention in the movie that it needs to change for it to “work in real life”.

Well that’s been taken to a new level with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Zack Snyder noted to costume designer Michael Wilkinson that it needed to be flexible to do the work Ben Affleck needed to, but also be comfortable and not hurt Ben Affleck as he was doing his scenes.

“That’s actually one of the first things that Snyder mentioned to me in one of our initial meetings,” Wilkinson says. “It’s a very important thing to Zack that the Batsuit would be comfortable and very flexible, but then would be able to perform in a very natural and forceful way. So a lot of incredible engineering went into the development of the new black cowl.”

So hey, mission accomplished! But it comes at a fun price…

“It does involve multiple costumers,” Wilkinson says. “It’s not the sort of thing that I could just sit in Ben’s trailer and he gets into it himself. It’s a six-handed operation.”
