Attention Bourne fans; Super Bowl 2016 just got instantly more exciting, even for non-American football fans.

As always, major film studios are prepping trailers to be showcased during the sporting event and it seems Universal are putting the final touches on our first look at the still-untitled Bourne 5 film, reuniting director Paul Greengrass with star Matt Damon.

Bourne novel writer Eric Van Lustbader leaked the news online in a now-deleted Facebook post, expressing his excitement at getting to see the trailer very soon. Presumably, the trailer will also reveal the film’s official title.

Van Lustbader said: “The first trailer for the new Bourne film will be shown during this year’s Superbowl telecast. At that time I believe you’ll find out the title of the film. (I know it, but I’m sworn to secrecy). So tune in on February 7th to check out all the excitement. I, for one, can’t wait!!!”

Considering that Universal moved quickly to pull the post, the reveal may well point to a genuine trailer release. Of course, we’ll not actually know for sure until February 7, but it’s exciting to know Bourne 5 is inching closer and closer, bringing us back to the team behind The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum. Along with Damon, it also star Julia Stiles, Vincent Cassel, Tommy Lee Jones, Riz Ahmed, Scott Shepherd and Ex Machina breakout star in an “action-driven” role.

Bourne 5 will be released on July 29 2016.
