"Death Sentence" Special Event

Mortal Kombat is in an interesting state of limbo right now. On one hand, it’s recent title has sold millions on consoles, showing the franchise still has a lot of impact. But in live-action tellings of the series, it’s not going so well. The Machinima series is in an unknown state, and the long rumored reboot movie has been going nowhere fast…until now.

James Wan, who directed the incredibly successful Furious 7 and will direct the upcoming Aquaman film for DC, is set to helm the reboot movie for the franchise.

Though no hard details are being given at the moment, rumors are that this will again focus on the tournament, and focus on one character who enters the tournament and tries to win it. Whether that’s Liu Kang, Kung Lao, or someone else entirely remains to be seen.
