Has Roland of Gilead’s epic trip to the Dark Tower found its (first) director?
Deadline are reporting that Nikolaj Arcel is the hot favourite to step onto the path for Stephen King’s epic Dark Tower series. Or at least the first movie, The Gunslinger.
It seems that Arcel will be involved in rewrites and then directing the movie over at Sony and Media Rights Capital.
The Gunslinger is reportedly the first movie in King’s massive story, with a TV series also being developed by MRC, with Akiva Goldsman, Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Erica Huggins and King himself producing.
Arcel co-wrote the Swedish version of the Stieg Larsson novel The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, and directed A Royal Affair.
It’s both scary and exhilarating that this is finally happening, as a fan of The Dark Tower series of books and the journey of Roland of Gilead, the lone Gunslinger on a quest to the Tower at the centre of reality where he hopes to save the world, the universe and, well, everything.
If you haven’t read it, I’d recommend diving in right away.
Now… who will play the main cast? Let the speculation begin.
