If, like us here are FTN HQ, you’re excited to see Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu movie (it doesn’t come out in the UK for another week), then there’s a good chance you’re going to love this.
Word is that Eggers, the man behind The Witch, The Northman, The Lighthouse and, of course, Nosferatu, is now setting his signs on a much-loved 80s classic.
The most recent effort to remake it was by Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson (here)
Eggers is reportedly in talks with Sony and The Jim Henson Company to update the David Bowie and Jennifer Connolly classic, Labyrinth.
There has been rumblings over the years of reboots and sequels, there’s been comics and other expanded lore but the 1986 movie still sits, untouchable and standalone as a children’s classic that terrifies the kids; so, I can see why Eggers is attached to the project.
The original movie was directed by the legendary Jim Henson himself and recently his son, Brian Henson – who directed The Muppet Christmas Carol – was asked about a return to the world of Labyrinth and he said it was “a project that we are very excited about.”
As of right now, it’s unknown if Eggers’ movie if it ever happens, is a sequel, reboot, reimagining or what but whatever it is, it’s a project I could get very, very excited about.
Thoughts? I wanna hear ’em…
