Oh God, they’re rebooting Tremors

Tremors is one of those films that occupies a special place in many a film fan’s heart, much like the Evil Dead series

Made on a shoestring budget, eschewing expensive effects in favour of screwball comedy, Tremors is one that Kevin Bacon will never be able to shake. No matter how hard he tries. And now, the great non-inventive juggernaut that is Hollywood has got the Tremors franchise in its sights.

Director Don Michael Paul has blogged that “after I finish up Company Of Heroes: The Fourth Reich I will be headed to Johannesburg, South Africa to reboot the Tremors franchise for Universal. Big year ahead and I’m excited to keep it going with the support of all you genre movie lovers out there”.

Don Michael Paul has directed a fair number of direct-to-video movies, such as Sniper 5: Legacy, Lake Placid: The Final Chapter and Jarhead 2. The thinking is that this Tremors reboot will similarly not be threatening a multiplex near you.

I just hope it’ll be more faithful to the source material than RoboCop…

The death ray is currently in the works and one day you shall all bow to him, his giant space station and fleet of funky orange space shuttles...
