Original Scream composer Marco Beltrami confirms return for Scream VII

April 29th, 2025 by Marc Comments

With Scream VII seeing the return of so many faces that made the franchise so iconic from day one, including creator Kevin Williamson directing and stars Neve Campbell, Courtenay Cox, Matthew Lillard, and David Arquette all returning in various capacities, it seemed that the original gang was almost all assembled.

All except for composer Marco Beltrami, who scored the first four movies in the franchise, giving it that beautiful, haunting score and flavour we now know so well.

Well, that’s all changed now as the composer has confirmed that he is coming back to Woodsboro too for the seventh installment.

Kevin Williamson shares heartfelt tribute to Wes Craven as Scream VII begins filming

On a post on his Instagram from 2023 (below), in which he talked about scoring several of the scenes in the first movie, one impassioned fan wrote in the comments: ‘Please do Scream &!’ to which Beltrami responded: ‘don’t worry, I am.’

This means that, short of the great Wes Craven who is no longer with us, almost all the team from the first movie are back – and I have a feeling there are more to be revealed when the movie itself opens.

While nothing is really known about the movie yet, it seems safe to say that this will be a real legacy sequel that will explore the earlier movies and maybe give us parts of the lore that we didn’t already know and, as a massive Scream fan, this makes me very excited, indeed.

“I’ll be right back!” Matthew Lillard confirmed returning for Scream VII

Scream VII will feature returning stars Neve Campbell, Courtenay Cox, David Arquette, Matthew Lillard , Scott Foley, Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown, alongside newcomers Isabel May, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner, Anna Camp, Joel McHale, Mark Consuelos and Ethan Embry.

The movie is co-written and directed by Scream creator Kevin Williamson.

Scream 7 slashes its way onto the screen on February 27th, 2026.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
