We’ve known for a while that a Wonder Woman spinoff movie (and animated series – here) is in development and being overseen by Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins overseeing them.
But now Jenkins has given an idea of when the movie spin-off will be set, saying: “This is a story that Geoff Johns and I came up with and then introduced to [Warner Bros.].
“The events of this story take place after Diana leaves Themyscira, the Island of the Amazons, and there are some twists and turns linked to what will happen between Wonder Woman 1984 and Wonder Woman 3. The production of the project has not yet officially started, but I hope we get it because I love this story.”
The movie, then, will be set between both Wonder Woman movies starring Gal Gadot and we also know that Jenkins has already planned out the third installment in the Wonder Woman main franchise (here) although she hopes to not direct this one herself.
Of course, this will all depend on how well Wonder Woman 1984’s limited cinematic run later this month does along with its release on HBO Max – details here.
But it’s certain at this point Warner Brothers have no intention in letting Wonder WOman fall to the roadside and with Jenkins and Gadot steering the ship, who can blame them?
