Paul Feig making a Universal Monsters movie

September 13th, 2019 by Marc Comments

It looks like Ghostbusters: Answer the Call and Bridesmaids director Paul Feig is about to jump into two of his favourite territiors again… horror and comedy.

Feig has signed on to make a monster movie at Universal called Dark Army which is based on an idea by Feig and will feature The Invisible Man, Dracula, The Wolfman, The Mummy and all the catalogue of the hour greats owned by the studio as well as characters of Feig’s creating.

So, a modern version of The Monster Squad, then? Only here called… Monster Army.

This movie will not be connected to the failed Dark Universe idea that started up a couple of years back with Tom Cruise’s The Mummy… that concept is dead in the water, but it is fun to see Universal are still keen to use their monsters in a more creative and standalone capacity.

I actually liked a lot of Feig’s work and think something like this might work well for him, so count me in.

Thoughts? I know you have ’em and I want to hear what they are.

While you”re here, why not check out our interview with Feig about Ghostbusters:

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
