PICTURES: The Flash filming at iconic location from Michael Keaton’s Batman

May 1st, 2021 by Marc Comments

We learned a couple of weeks ago that Michael Keaton has started filming his return after 30 years to the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne in The Flash movie, currently filming in England (here).

And, while this news alone had us giddy with excitement, we now have more confirmation –  and the return of an iconic location from Tim Burton’s iconic 1989 take on the Dark Knight.

The photos, shared on Twitter (below), show Warners Bros trucks and staff working at Burghley House in Lincolnshire, England. This was the site of Wayne Manor in the ’89 movie.

Although, weirdly, Wayne Manor took on a very different look in the 1992 sequel, Batman Returns (left).

It’s unknown how big a role Wayne Manor or, indeed, Keaton himself, will play in The Flash, but it’s not expected to be a major role but rather may set Keaton up as a major training presence in the DCEU moving forward, with some reports saying it would see the star take on a Nick Fury-type role, moving forward.

Other rumours persist that eventually, this will see Keaton taking on the aging Batman role for a Batman Beyond series or movie. What a time to be alive.

This is not the first time Keaton’s Batman has been brought back into the spotlight, with us learning in last year’s Crisis on Infinite Earths event on The CW that his Bruce Wayne went on to marry Michelle Pfeiffer’s Selina Kyle/Catwoman (here) and in a soon to be released comic series, we’ll see his Batman’s story continued in the comic series Batman ’89 (here) which will pick up the story of what was originally meant to be the third Batman installment and would see Billy Dee Williams’ version of Two-Face return (yes!) and Robin finally come into the series. Yes, this pretty much confirms that Batman Forever and Batman & Robin, despite some returning characters, is not the same universe as Burton’s movies.

The movie will explore the Multiverse of the DC Universe and will also see characters from throughout the DC universe appear, including another Batman in the form of Ben Affleck returning once more.

It seems that, although gone since ’92’s Batman Returns, Keaton’s Batman will be around for a long, long time to come.

Check out the images of Wayne Manor below and let me know what you think about this Batman’s return.

The Flash is set for release on November 4th, 2022.
