RUMOUR CONTROL: Is Marvel’s new Phase to kick off with The Eternals?

April 16th, 2018 by Ciaran McElherron Comments

If you, like me, are a member of the Merry Marvel Marching Society you will know that Kirby is King, while Stan the Man gets the main stream glory we know that Marvel is the house the Jack built and with the imminent release of Avengers: Infinity War and next year’s as yet untitled fourth Avengers movie that the whole of the MCU is in line for a major shake up.

Contracts have finished and characters are going to die… at least for a while until the inevitable reboots in a few years’ time, so because of this, marvel have been playing their card close to their chests with the titles of their upcoming movies to avoid spoilers.

Now a new rumour has started to gain traction on the internet that one of the upcoming slate of movies could include a movie based on Jack Kirby’s “Eternals” and, if true, there should be an announcement imminently…

In the Marvel comic book universe, an alien race called the Celestials visited Earth five million years ago and performed genetic experiments on early forms of life, unlocking the ability for super-powered mutations to exist and creating the Eternals and the Deviants in the process who became enemies.

There has already been ground work for the Eternals in the MCU with one in each of the Guardians movies (see below) and they could possibly reveal in Infinity War if Thanos is one too.

Exciting times… Marvel’s next phase could be a BIG one
