Hmmmmmm…
We’re three movies in and it seems that Ryan Reyolds is looking at a way to bring Wade Wilson AKA Deadpool back and this time have him actually fit into the MCU proper, rather than just skate around the edges.
In a new interview with TIME, you can watch it below, Reynolds was asked about the future of Deadpool now that Avengers Doomsday is about to start filming and we know for certain that the X-Men are set to come to the MCU in style, and if we can expect to see him join forces with one of the big teams of superheroes.

Reynolds has always said that he sees Deadpool as a supporting character rather than the lead – although now that we have the Deadpool trilogy, a critical and financial success of the highest order, that seems a little disingenuous to say the least – but he’s clearly given the future of the character in the MCU some thought: “If [Deadpool] becomes an Avenger or an X-Man, we’re at the end,” he says, going on: “That’s wish fulfilment, and we can’t give him that.”
So, no superhero team-up for Wade? Seems a little sad, no?
Well, it seems that Reynolds doesn’t see Deadpool as a team player and the character has sorted of had his arc already: “I hijacked the first [Deadpool] movie and used the character to tell a story about shame, then a story about family for the second movie, and then something being about redemption. And I think we nailed redemption because redemption is something that is one of the great American exports.”

Interestlngly, as I couldn’t agree more, he thinks that the character who deserves his moment (no pun intended) in the sun right now is Wesley Snipes’ Blade: “I was really grateful [in Deadpool & Wolverine) where we got to see people and characters like Blade with Wesley Snipes, who is a guy who should have a third act in this moment because he is a f#@cking huge movie star! That feeling and the gasp that comes out of people when he crosses the frame in the movie is just a feeling I want more of and I think I’d be able to do that as the supporting actor.”
However, it’s not all bad news because he reveals that he is, in fact, writing something new for Deadpool, saying he’s “writing a little something right now… it’s an ensemble”.

It really feels like Deadpool’s future isn’t in the big event movies at Marvel such as Avengers or X-Men but rather in smaller movies that see the character interacting with the forgotten heroes, the ones, as Reynolds himself says: “It’s like when you miss something or someone, but you didn’t know you missed them is a very unique experience for an audience…”
Well, you certainly proved you knew how that worked in Deadpool & Wolverine last year and I can’t wait to see who we get playing with Deadpool next. But there’s zero complaints if it’s Snipes as Blade, left, again, just sayin’. Oh, and Zazie Beetz’s Domino too, please.
Thoughts, I know you have them, gang and I want to hear them.
UPDATE:
Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld took to Twitter/X to remind fans that Reynolds is currently woking on a movie called Boy Band and this is likely what he’s talking about and NOT a new Deadpool adventure…
