Well, we weren’t really expecting this but it seems that a Labyrinth sequel may well be coming.
Yes, you read that right, as it seems that TriStar Pictures and the Jim Henson Company have worked out a deal with the director of the awesome Evil Dead reboot director Fede Alvarez to make a sequel to the iconic 80s movie.
Yes!
And on top of that, Alvarez is saying the script is now completed, putting the movie one step closer to being a thing: “I was actually having lunch yesterday with Lisa Henson and we reconnected with that project. We’re very excited about it. It is basically a direct continuation of the first movie many years later, and I can’t tell you much more about it… but we have a script, and we’re very excited about it so we’ll see where that goes. Like always, it takes time and effort to put those movies together because they’re larger than life. But that’s one of the projects that I’m very excited about.”
Obviously the biggest question will be how they get around the fact that David Bowie, the Goblin King, is no longer with us… do they recast? Write him out?
Will Jennifer Connolly return as Sarah? Or will it move away from that story?
One thing is for sure, it needs to be all practical sets and effects or it won’t feel like Labyrinth.
What do you guys all think? Let us know…
