It was announced at C2E2 during the Star Wars Books panel that we will be seeing a prequel novel for the upcoming film (and first spinoff of its kind) Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

The novel is going under the title Star Wars: Catalyst, and while no author or set release date was given, it was confirmed that we will be seeing its arrival this fall, ahead of Rogue One, in December.

Here’s the official announcement, courtesy of the Star Wars Books Twitter account:

Star Wars Underground are speculating that Star Wars: A New Dawn author John Jackson Miller could possibly be writing the story, due to his appearance on the panel, but these are just rumours at the moment.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is released on 16 December 2016

Hidden deep in the woods, past the abandoned insane asylum and long-forgotten summer camp, off the old dirt road, across the creaky timber bridge, lies a log cabin. Under the full moon some have said they've heard blood-curdling howls from deep in the basement, though none have been brave enough to explore further... If they had, the shocking reveal would be that the screams come from old horror VHS tapes, accompanied by the maniacal laugh of Phil Robinson, brought on by comics and wrestling promos. The self-confessed "horror guy", he has also been known to talk about Spider-Man and heavy metal at great, unnecessary lengths. Yes, he knows he needs a haircut.
