Before you get your hopes up; no, that is not the first image of Tom Holland as Spider-Man. It’s a fake.
The image was posted on Instagram and quickly went viral, but it’s nothing to get excited about, we can assure you.
ComicBook.com (via Squareeyed) has provided this description as to why the image is definitely a fabrication…
“Quick and easy way to tell for the future (or make better Photoshop fakes): Spidey’s shadow, going dark and deep back behind him onto the green screen. In the real picture, you can see there’s only the lightest of shadows, and it’s in front of the actor – they try to minimize shadows with 360 degrees of even lighting when doing green screen filming, so it’s one less thing they have to worry about when adding the CGI backgrounds, where they also add the light source.”
Below is the actual image, from the 2009 live-short version of Assassin’s Creed. So yes, very far away from Spider-Man.
