The ‘Ben Affleck is finished playing Batman after Flashpoint’ rumour is back…

December 7th, 2017 by Marc Comments

Well, we’re once again reporting that it looks like Ben Affleck is leaving the DC Cinematic Universe.

And, once again, we’re reporting it will likely be after the Flashpoint movie.

While there are no further details on the future of Batman in the DC movies, we do have a fairly reliable source as Variety report:

While Ben Affleck is expected to appear as Batman in a standalone Flash movie, it is highly unlikely he will don the cape and cowl in Matt Reeves’ planned standalone Batman movie. The director is said to want to cast the role with fresh talent, according to sources.

We have looked into this in depth already (here) and we have a theory that, after Flashpoint, which will see massive changes in the ‘reality’ of the DC universe, we will see Batman/Bruce Wayne looking different as he is portrayed by someone else (here).

For the record, actor Jake Gyllenhaal is current favourite to replace Affleck (here).

So there you have it… is Affleck really gone after Flashpoint? Time will tell.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
