Ok, let’s rewind a little bit, shall we? Ant-Man has been in production for a while, and it’s gone through a number of changes. A couple changes that fans didn’t support was that A) Ant-Man didn’t create Ultron (even though it’s a big part of his comic history, instead they gave it to Stark and Banner) and B) that Hank Pym along with his wife Janet Van Dyne weren’t going to be in the Avengers.

For many fans, this was a huge blow, as Hank and Janet were part of the original Avengers team, and to be more or less pushed away made it seem like Marvel didn’t care about the history these two have had in the comics.

We do know that Hank did marry Janet in the upcoming Ant-Man movie, and that they have a daughter who calls herself Hope Van Dyne, after mother. But happened to Janet aka The Wasp? Well, Marvel Studios President Kevin Fiege talked to MTV and said the following statement:

“She factors in a number of spoiler-ish ways,” he says. “But we will see Janet van Dyne in action in this film, and sort of what happened to her.”

More than likely, this refers to the confirmed flashback sequence that’ll feature Hank Pym, Peggy Carter, Howard Stark and more, but other than that we’re just guessing what it could mean. We do know that Hope does not like her father, and if Janet died in action (as Evangeline Lilly noted her character was “raised by two superheroes”), it’d be easy to see why she would blame her father.
