For those who have forgotten, or those who didn’t see it, Edge of Tomorrow is one of the best action films in recent years (Also, for those who fall into the latter camp… SEE IT NOW). The simple premise of being able to jump back in time at the moment of death, created one of the most unique films to come to cinema screens in a long time.

The sad part of all of this is that the film did not do very well at the box-office. This was mostly due to a marketing campaign that could charitably be described as a train-wreck. The campaign presented the film as very drab and self-serious, when the film actually had an excellent sense of dark humour.

With this in mind, I felt confident in asserting that this film would never receive a sequel. However, apparently Cruise has an idea for one. In a recent interview, Cruise stated: “I pitched it to McQuarrie and Doug. We were there one night and I was like, “I’ve got an idea for it… It could be so much fun. Gotta get Emily. I was like “Emily, please.” She was like, “Give me another year, please.”

Based on these reports, it seems that a sequel may actually happen, though as to what it will be about, Cruise has not revealed. However, the concept of this team having this much confidence in the project, is more than enough to get me excited.
