Tom Holland says ‘there’s been talk’ of a Back to the Future reboot with him starring

Following on from our article a few days ago (here) that highlighted exactly why we will never see another Back to the Future movie or – thank God! – a remake, we have news today that proves that talks about a reboot have still happened.

Following on from a deep fake video – which you can watch below – that was released recently with MCU stars Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jnr in the roles of Marty and Doc – as made famous by Michael J Fox and Christopher Lloyd – it seems that the younger of the two HAS indeed has talks about possibly bringing the series back for a new audience.

In a new interview on BBC Radio 1, Holland had this to say: “I’d be lying if I said there hadn’t been conversations in the past about doing some sort of remake, but that film is the most perfect film- or one of the most perfect films, one that could never be made better.

“That said, if [Robert Downey Jr.] and I could just shoot that one scene that they remade for fun – he could pay for it cause he’s got loads of money – I would do it for my fee and we could remake that scene. I think we owe it to deep fake because they did such a good job. … I think I’m gonna speak to Robert and see if we can try to recreate something for deep fake.”

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’d watch and likely enjoy a scene or two done for fun with the duo, but the very idea of this trilogy being touched by modern film-makers makes my blood run cold. If you want to re-introduce people to the Back to the Future trilogy then just re-release the originals.

DEAR HOLLYWOOD: DO NOT REMAKE THESE MOVIES OR EVEN DISCUSS IT!

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
