Hollywood is going to take another stab at Lara Croft it would seem. With renewed interest in the character, brought about through the recently rebooted games series, it is easy to see why they may wish to strike while the iron is hot.

To direct this project, the studio has approached Norwegian director of Cold Prey and The Wave, Roar Uthaug. As well as this, Evan Daugherty, Marti Noxon, Mark Fergus, Hawk Ostby and Geneva Robertson-Dworet, have all played a part in drafting the script.

According to the limited information that we have, the film will focus on the early years of Lara’s life, and tell the story of her first adventure. This plot sounds very similar to the plot of the first game in the recently rebooted series, so it is not a bad place to start, from a storytelling perspective.

All in all, it is still to early to make any predictions on the upcoming film, as there are still a lot of questions to be answered (not the least of which being, who will play Lara Croft). However, after the original two films, I can’t get too excited over this. Hopefully Hollywood will be able to do justice to one of the most recognisable video game characters of all time.
