Brace yourselves Tron fans, this isn’t good.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Disney is choosing not to make Tron 3. Yes, despite everything we’ve been hearing, it’s not being made.
There are no details currently as to what caused this decision by Disney, especially after both Garret Hedlund and Olivia Wilde were both “confirmed” to be reprising their roles from Tron: Legacy for Tron 3.
However, Deadline reckon the lacklustre performance of Tomorrowland may be a factor: “Disney has had strong success with its live-action properties recently, including Maleficent and this year’s Cinderella, which earned $527.4 million worldwide. But it recently had a stumble with the $180 million live-action film Tomorrowland, which underperformed at the box office this past weekend with a $33 million U.S. debut.”
This is truly sad news, as we here at FTN LOVE Tron, and Tron: Legacy, and were really looking forward to Tron 3. Hopefully things will change soon and this does get made. Cause we want to go back to The Grid.
