August 27th, 2014 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

The Inbetweeners’ reign at the top of the chart has finally come to an end thanks to one of this week’s new entries, as a matter of a fact four new films and one new event went into this week’s top ten shaking up the chart a little bit.

Firstly, on to the movie that has claimed the golden crown of chart success and surprisingly it went to Luc Besson’s new film Lucy which showed that a strong female lead role film can do well.

Other new entries in this weeks top ten went to Doctor Who: Deep Breath which went in at number eight, romantic comedy What If which hit the number six spot, possession horror in the form of Deliver Us From Evil hitting the number five spot and the final new entry went to disaster film Into the Storm which blew its way into the number four spot.

Upcoming – Not a very strong week when it comes to new films as only two seem to have any chance of going into next week’s chart, so on offer is buddy comedy Let’s Be Cop and horror film As Above So Below.

US Chart

It seems that Guardians of the Galaxy has legs as it has knocked the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles off the top spot to become the new number one, even more good news for the film is that it has become the biggest movie of the summer so far.

So what happened to the new films this week? Well, an absent movie from the top five was Sin City: A Dame to Kill For which could only manage to go in at number eight and has been deemed as a flop.

There was a couple of new films in the top five; they were drama When the Game Stands Tall which went in at number five and romantic drama If I Stay which went in at number three and is one of the new films out this week in the UK.

5. When the Game Stands Tall – (NE)
4. Let’s Be Cops
