Some updates from the DCU from James Gunn and Peter Safran tonight, guys…
Ok, first off, Chris Pratt, he of Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World fame, has been asked if he might be set for the DC universe or if he’s sticking soley with the MCU, to which he replied: “Well, it probably makes more sense that I would be Star-Lord again. But anything is possible, and especially with James over at DC. Maybe there’s something that would be right over there. Maybe both. How about both? Let’s do both. I think it’s 100% both.”
I’m hearing that Gunn is close to casting his Booster Gold and Pratt might be a good fit for that role in the new DCU but, while I really want Jensen Ackles to be Batman, I could definitely see Pratt in the cape and ears.
Check out Pratt’s comments here:
The Garfield Movie interviews has started to roll out! I especially love it when these two touched the fluffy wall together
Obviously Pratt is still Star-Lord and James Gunn is his bff so of course he’ll be a part of DCU (in the future) pic.twitter.com/dtM8F0HyFt

In other news, we know that Gunn is currently getting ready to bring John Cena back to our screens for Peacemaker season 2 and it seems that we also know that Purge and Warrior star Frank Grillo will be appearing too. Grillo has previously been cast as Rick Flagg Sr in the animated series, Creature Commandos, and will play him in Peacemaker’s second outing. Interstingly, Gunn said on social media: “Christopher Smith [Peacemaker] and Rick Sr have a little unfinished business to take care of…”
So, in Gunn’s Suicide Squad, we saw Peacemaker killing Rick Flagg Jnr, played by Joel Kinnaman, an action he regretted in the first season but it seems now that the father might want revenge for his son’s murder, which makes sense, of course, but until now, it seemed that Suicide Squad was not part of Gunn’s new DC Universe. This is confusing…
Anyway, speaking of Creature Commandos, we have a new synopsis:
From Executive Producer and writer James Gunn, Creature Commandos… follows Amanda Waller as she forms a black ops team out of monstrous prisoners.
We know that Viola Davis will be reprising her role as Waller in a new series soon, so it makes sense that she would also be part of Creature Commandos… though it does sound a lot like Suicide Squad, just sayin’.
And finally, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has a release date of June 26th, 2026 and will star House of the Dragon’s Milly Alcock playing he titular heroine with I, Tonya and Cruella director Craig Gillespie confirmed to be helming it.
Gunn said of the movie last year when announcing the full DCU slate: “We see the difference between Superman who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he was an infant, versus Supergirl who was raised on a rock, a chip off Krypton, and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life, and then came to Earth when she was a young girl. She’s much more hardcore; she’s not exactly the Supergirl we’re used to seeing.”
Creature Commandos will kick off the new DCU when it arrives later this year with Superman hitting cinemas next summer.
This all looks pretty exciting and I’m looking forward to seeing how it all turns out.
What say you all?
