After Dwayne Johnson’s great Black Adam panel (here) last week at DC Fandome (seriously, that panel was top-notch and not a day of filming yet!) we’re pacing the floor about what is coming.
We know in the movie he will face off against the Justice Society of America but it always comes back to Superman. At the event itself, Johnson threw down the gauntlet to Batman, Flash, Wonder Woman and Superman, saying the balance of power in the DC Universe is about to shift.
Then we reported that Johnson has made it clear to DC/Warners that if he’s to become a big part of the DC Cinematic Universe then he wants it certain that he will throw down with the big blue boyscout (here) and it has to be Cavill in the supersuit.
And, on that, going back to the time when the Black Adam movie was first announced (going back as far as 2015), it was hinted that both stars wanted to see their characters come face-to-face in the DCEU.
Now, it’s not Johnson that’s throwing shade at Superman but rather Black Adam producer Hiram Garcia who, in a new interview, says that director Jaume Collett-Serra has a “great vision” for the movie before having a sneaky (but fun) at the last son of Krypton.
“We’re thrilled with how the announcement went and the incredible fan reaction from it,” he says, speaking about DC Fandome (links above).
“Our director Jaume Collett-Serra has always had a great vision for what we all want to achieve and I think audiences are going to go crazy when they see the story and sequences we’ve been creating that showcase this world and more importantly what Black Adam is truly capable of.
“It’s fun to truly showcase all of his abilities and watch someone with this much power who, unlike other powerful DC characters, doesn’t believe in pulling their punches. Then on top of that you add in the complexity of his character and the things he’s carrying with him, what he’s been through, what he’s come from and where he’s going to go … and it makes for a for a very unique and intense cinematic ride.”
So, Superman believes in ‘pulling [his] punches’, huh? Well, I’m willing to bet that Black Adam will be able to knock that out of him…
What say you all? Is it just me or is the throw-down between Black Adam and Superman on the cards? Let me know what you all think…
