We all know that actor Joe Manganiello is set to return to the DCEU as Deathstroke in next year’s HBO Max-released Zack Snyder’s Justice League miniseries but the star may have just teased something else coming.
The actor last week posted a new look at how he would appear in the new Justice League release (left) and it differs a lot from his look originally when the movie came out under Joss Whedon’s direction in 2017 (above) which has many of wondering what his role will be in the movie.
But even more than that, fans of the actor and the character Deathstroke are still reeling from the fact that we almost got something special as way, way back when filming on Justice League was happening, Ben Affleck teased Deathstroke (here) and it was pretty much confirmed he was to be the main antagonist in the unmade Batman movie which was to be written by, directed by and starring Affleck.
Now, Manganiello addresses this in a new interview on the Drinks with Johnny show (below), saying: “That movie didn’t happen [Affleck’s The Batman] but Zack and I have all kinds of fun stuff coming up, we’ve got some fun projects that are in the works.”
Now, what could this mean?
Well, we know there are a lot of rumours abound right now that HBO Max intend on picking up Affleck’s unmade Batman project (possibly as a limited TV series now) and other rumours that suggest that the streamer is hoping to bring Snyder into the fold to oversee a new DC universe similar to the one he planned when he made Man of Steel and Batman V Superman.
Now, for the sake of balance, we must point out that, yes, we know he’s been cast in Snyder’s Army of the Dead animated prequel, Lost Vegas, as a character called Rose (here) and that could certainly be what he’s talking about… but I can’t help but feel that Snyder changing parts of his Justice League and changing Deathstroke is not just for the sake of it… I think it may be leading to something new.
And if Deathstroke is a part of that? Well, all the better, as they say.
What do you guys think? Let me know…
