WATCH: Did Sony just tease Amazing Spider-man 3 in No Way Home digital release trailer?

March 20th, 2022 by Marc Comments

With Spider-man: No Way Home set for digital release this coming week, Sony/Marvel have really ramped up the marketing for the nig release and they’ve put out a trailer that has really raised a few eyebrows.

As you all know by now, the movie unites Tom Holland’s Spider-man with previous live-action Spideys Andrew Garfield and Toby Maguire and it was such a hit with fans that the movie has, despite the pandemic, become one of the biggest earning movies of all time.

But, aside from being a fun movie, it seems to have gained the previous Spider-man, Garfield and Maguire, a whole new fanbase who must have been too young when they had their movies or just didn’t appreciate his great they were, especially Garfield, left, who is often maligned as the worst incarnation [when he is, in fact, the best].

Which is what makes the new trailer an unexpected tease:

Did they seem to just tease the third solo outing for Garfield’s Spider-man or are we thinking too much about it?

Garfield’s Spider-man had originally got a whole big universe of movies planned out for him including a Sinister Six movie and even meeting Maguire too (here) but sadly it was cut short for silly reasons – we’ll let you look into it, but stubbornness seems to be the problem – but while many thought his second movie was far too busy with too much crammed in, many of us believe that Garfield was the perfect embodiment of Peter Parker and Spider-man and deserved not only to have had more adventures but to eventually have become the MCU’s Spider-man (I count myself among those people).

We’re not saying we don’t like Holland, we do, we just feel that Garfield’s run was cut short way, way too soon.

So, this trailer tells us to prepare for The Amazing Peter #3:

And the font, music, and style are all clearly lifted from Marc Webb’s Amazing Spider-man movies which has, pardon the pun, our collective Spider-senses tingling.

Are we over-thinking it? Let me know in all the usual ways, guys…

For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero is unmasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero. When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.

Also, check out the new looks at Holland’s new Spider-man suit as seen at the end of No Way Home, it looks pretty great to us:

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
