Despite the fact that we’ve had no cinematic Marvel content since Spider-man: Far From Home in July, 2019, there’s no question the audience is still there, just waiting to get those tickets booked when the world returns to normal (balls to your ‘new normal’).
And, in anticipation of that, Marvel just dropped a cool sizzle reel to remind us all we are part of the Marvel family and, while we have four movies coming this year alone with Black Widow, Shang-Chi, The Eternals and Spider-man: No Way Home, there’s a whole load of cool new movies soming to cinemas and the MCU in the next couple of years too.
But, while the reel features new footage from The Eternals, the coolest part is the fact that we now know the official titles of the Black Panther and Captain Marvel sequels.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and The Marvels are both set for 2022and will undoubtedly be very different with the Black Panther sequel sadly not having Chadwick Boseman who tragically passed last year and the Captain Marvel sequel will almost certainly also feature Kamala Kahn’s Ms Marvel who we got our first look at here.
Based on the Marvel Comics by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Black Panther 2 will once again be directed and written by Ryan Coogler. Further details about the sequel’s plot are still being kept under wraps, but Kevin Feige previously confirmed that Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa would not be recast. Most of the first film’s cast is expected to return with the new addition of Tenoch Huerta (Narcos: Mexico), who has reportedly been cast as the antagonist.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is currently set to arrive in theaters on July 8, 2022.
Captain Marvel 2 will see Nia DaCosta (Candyman) taking over the directing duties from the first film’s the writing/directing team of Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. Joining Larson in the sequel are WandaVision breakout star Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and MCU newcomer Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, who first make her debut later this year in her own Disney+ series. English actress Zawe Ashton (Velvet Buzzsaw) has also been cast for the role of the film’s antagonist.
The Marvels is currently set for a November 11, 2022 release.
The world may change and evolve, but the one thing that will never change: we’re all part of one big family.
