Wow. Remember a few weeks back when Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams disappointed the world when he said we wouldn’t be getting any more trailers before the film’s release on December 17? Yeah, well, in the intermitting two-week period, we’ve got aninternational trailer (with bonus footage), numerous TV spots and now yet another clip.
Only this time, it’s a 30-second white-knuckle thrill ride worthy of anyone’s time.
The fifth TV spot shows John Boyega’s Finn justifying his flight from the First Order, explaining that “we all need to run” from whatever it is he’s seen while serving as a stormtrooper. But it looks like his past will come back to bite him — in an echo of Luke’s fight against himself in that Dagobah cave, Finn is shown here battling a stormtrooper wielding a weapon that seems to be a match for his lightsaber.
There’s less than a month now until The Force Awakens’ premiere, but these TV spots will keep coming (hopefully). At this rate, fans will be able to piece together about forty minutes of footage before the movie even opens – but we’ll keep happily taking what they’re giving.
