We finally have our first look at the big-screen John Wick spinoff, Ballerina, and it looks great.
Set during the events of John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum – we saw the scene in the trailer, very clever – the movie stars Ana de Armas as Eve Macarro, an assassin who, aided by some familiar faces from the John Wick movies, is looking to get vengeance for the death of her family.
The movie was to have been released by now but after John Wick director Chad Stahelski, who now oversees the franchise, stepped in to get some stuff filmed and added to make the movie match John Wick’s world better and it certainly seems like it’s worked.
The movie is set for release next summer but with more Wick movies, TV shows, anime and games planned, I’m confident we’ll be writing about this world well before then.
Taking place during the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, the film follows Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas) who is beginning her training in the assassin traditions of the Ruska Roma.
Ballerina stars Ana de Armas, Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Lance Reddick, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Norman Reedus, with Ian McShane, and Keanu Reeves, it’s directed by Len Wiseman.
