Are you ready for the latest cinematic shared universe?!? Of course you are!
Karate Kid and Cobra Kai star Ralph Macchio is to join forces with Karate Kid reboot star Jackie Chan for an all-new Karate Kid movie!
Up until now, it was assumed that the 2010 movie starring Chan as Mr Han was a reboot and completely unconnected to the 1984 movie starring Macchio as Daniel LaRusso but it seems that no, they’re all one world.
The new movie is set for December 13th, 2024 with The End of the F@~king World director Jonathan Entwistle and Peter Rabbit writer Rob Lieber at the controls.
Little is known about the movie aside from Macchio and Chan reprising the roles of Daniel and Mr Han respectively and, as of now, there’s no word on how the new movie will connect to the hit series Cobra Kai starring Macchio and William Zabka asJohnny Lawrence or, more importantly, if Zabka will also be starring… at this stage, if he’s not, I’m not sure I can support this thing!
However, one good bit of news is that, while they’re not directly involved in the movie, the team behind the ridiculously fun Cobra Kai series has some involvement with creators Jon Hurwitz, Josh Heald, and Hayden Schlossberg being on hand to help, offering assistance and help along the way.
We have reported on this movie several times in the past and at various points it was rumoured that it was a Karate Kid (1984) movie and at other stages a Karate Kid (2010) movie, so this actually makes sense now.
So, there you have it, Karat Kid meets Karate Kid with a sprinkle of Cobra Kai… but Johnny Lawrence needs to make an appearance, dammit!
