You may recall last night that Zack Snyder and Netflix revealed the opening 15 minutes of his new movie Army of the Dead (watch it here, it’s superb but definitely not for sensitive or young viewers) but Snyder also revealed something even more exciting… our first look of actor Wayne T Carr as the iconic DC hero.
We learned recently that Carr had been cast as John Stewart/Green Lantern in Zack Snyder’s Justice League (here) and had even filmed his cameo at the end of the movie where he met Bruce Wayne and assured him he’d be joining in the coming battle… however, Warners baulked at the idea of Stewart being in the movie… perhaps because they’re developing a Green Lantern series for HBO Max (here) and also because Stewart is set to appear soon officially in the Arrowverse (here)… whatever the reasons, the character was off limits.
And, honestly, we never thought we’d see Carr in the actual suit – who Snyder recently said would be CGI in his movie but practical in future movies – but last night we got our look.
During a special screening of Army of the Dead last night at Cinemark Playa Vista in LA Snyder was asked if we’d ever see his Green Lantern and while he was non-commital, he did say he had a picture on his phone, which he went on to share with the crowd (below).
And it looks great!
You’ll notice that the suit has the cool holographic Lantern logo on the chest as seen on Yalan Gur during the ancient battle scene in the movie and, on top of that, Carr makes a perfect-looking Stewart.
Check out Snyder’s revealing of the image in the footage below and don’t forget to let me know all your thoughts.
