Scripts go through numerous rewrites from creation to filming. And even then, things get edited and cut. During a recent Q&A, James Gunn revealed that one of the characters that fans truly took to was actually killed in the original script of Guardians of the Galaxy. The blue skined, mohawk rocking, whistle killing…Yondu.

“In the original script (that I wrote) Rocket had a little bomb in this scene,” James Gunn wrote. “At the end Quill put it in the Orb when he gave it to Yondu. And, as Yondu flew away at the very end, his whole ship exploded!!”

The reason this didn’t make the cut was that Gunn believed the fans would actually like Yondu’s character. Apparently though, a lot of people weren’t happy he did that. On the level though, it would’ve been understandable if Quill had done that, as to protect himself and his team from Yondu. On the other hand, the ending we got was pretty cool!
